¡¡Nyemo¡¡

Nyemo is the name of a women's organization in Cambodia run by a French NGO. In Cambodia, mainly women, especially those in rural areas, are responsible for family survival. This includes, but is not limited to, housekeeping, nursing, running small family businesses and taking care of aged relatives.
Women and girls in Cambodia have limited access to education. If parents are poor and cannot afford to send all their children to school, they will choose to send their sons to get an education before their daughters. As a result, a 1996 Asia Development Bank (ADB) study estimated that 48 percent of Cambodian women and girls over the age of 15 are illiterate. The figure for boys is 22 percent.
Nyemo offers health care, vocational training and education for women in Cambodia. They also run a handicraft shop and restaurant called Le Rit's on Norodom Street in Phnom Penh. In September, 2004 "Nyemo the Store" was opened in Phnom Pehn and it offers Vietnamese noodles, soup, coffee and other popular dishes. Of course the food is delicious but that is not all they have to offer. Customers and tourists alike can also purchase handicrafts there that are made by local woman who are members of Nyemo. As part of the visitor's experience, this is set in a nostalgic interior. In the cafe, thermoses on the tables and the pink and mint green walls create a delightful atmosphere of both Asian and European elements. The experience starts at the cute entrance to the shop on your left as you stroll along north end of Sisowath Street with theTonle Sap River on your right.
